Volunteer Opportunities

Teach English as a Second Language 

Would you like to teach English as a second language? Become part of our wonderful dedicated experience faculty who volunteer teaching English to many  students coming from many countries eager to become part of labor force and our community. We need two teachers per class.

RESPONSIBILITIES

      • First year, assist a teacher, learn about our program
      • Second year, start your class
      • Third year, become a mentor to other teachers

QUALIFICATIONS

      • High School Diploma
      • Some College attended (preferred but not required)
      • Proficient English skill
      • Self-motivated, focused
      • Patience and ability to work with others

Chess Club and Math Practice

Do you need service learning hours or volunteer hours and want to have fun? Do you like spending time helping kids succeed? Our mission is to promote self-sufficiency and the successful integration of any Hispanic Americans or any new Americans. With your help, many children that are in contact with us can receive the educational assistance they need to help with their integration to US culture. All volunteers will have a background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the teachers
  • Tutor your expertise
  • Help clean up, take pictures, conduct evaluations,etc.
  • The aid includes: a) Study tips, b) Homework help.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently High School or High School Diploma, GPA of at least 3.00
  • Some College attended (preferred but not required)
  • Basic educational knowledge (math, science, social studies, history, etc)
  • Self-motivated, focused
  • Good with kids

Social Media Coordinator

Our organization is dedicated to promoting and ensuring the success of Hispanics and any new Americans through the US systems and to facilitate and strengthen their education and enhance the City of Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and the State of Maryland labor force. As the world has increasingly become web and internet-driven, our organization would need a consistent updater on our website, newsletter, as well as our social network pages. This great volunteer opportunity as a social media coordinator requires good English writing skills but  no former job experience and will greatly add to your resume.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Update Center of Help's website.
  • Update the Center of Help's Newsletter
  • Keep our Facebook and Twitter accounts up-to-date with whoever follows/likes us
  • Write letters in English when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently High School or High School Diploma, GPA of at least 3.5
  • Some College attended (preferred but not required)
  • Any web developing experience or education
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Self-motivated, focused

FOOD BANK

The Center of help feeds around 170 families the last Friday of every month in partnership with the Food Bank from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Volunteers can sign for a set up session, serving session or clean up session. Please contact Adriana Lee at 410-295-3435

  • Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
