Do you need service learning hours or volunteer hours and want to have fun? Do you like spending time helping kids succeed? Our mission is to promote self-sufficiency and the successful integration of any Hispanic Americans or any new Americans. With your help, many children that are in contact with us can receive the educational assistance they need to help with their integration to US culture.

Monday thru Friday after 4:00 PM and Saturday mornings between 9:00 and 1:00 PM
Orientation required
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently High School or High School Diploma, GPA of at least 3.00
  • Some College attended (preferred but not required)
  • Basic educational knowledge (math, science, social studies, history, etc)
  • Self-motivated, focused
  • Good and patient with students

María de la Paz Youth Outreach Center

 

  • Tutors and teaching assistants
  • One-on-one mentors
  • Volunteer teachers to conduct STEM lessons, cultural activities, reading groups, career research and skills
  • Yoga and Mindfulness teachers/coaches
  • 2 People to drive students Monday-Friday 3:15pm-3:45pm and 6:30pm-7:00pm

    RESPONSIBILITIES VARY DEPENDING ON POSITION

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 16 years old
  • Basic educational knowledge (math, science, social studies, history, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, focused
  • Good and patient with kids
  • **2 hour training session required**

Adult Education

TEACH ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

Would you like to teach English as a second language? Become part of our wonderful dedicated experience faculty who volunteer teaching English to many students coming from many countries eager to become part of the labor force and our community. We need two teachers per class.

QUALIFICATIONS (ASSISTANT TEACHER)

  • High School Diploma
  • Some College attended (preferred but not required)
  • Proficient English skills
  • Self-motivated, focused
  • Patience and ability to work with others
  • Some teaching experience (preferred)

*Lead teachers must possess a TESOL or TEFL certificate*

BILINGUAL TUTORS NEEDED

Our newest program, Plaza Comunitaria, allows adult students to receive a 9th grade diploma from Mexico through a self-study program. Our students need tutors!
